Are Peanuts Good For Pet Birds or Not?

Peanuts contain fiber, protein, vitamins, minerals and amino acids; still we often ask this question. Infact, feeding peanuts to our pet birds might get dangerous if mold traces are found on them. As it grows underground, mold called Aspergillus Flavus may grow on them and it produces Aflatoxin that may even cause cancer.

What we can do is:
• Feed your bird unsalted and roasted peanuts to reduce the risk of toxins in them.
• Don’t feed them more than 3 to 4 peanuts everyday.
• Spanish or Valencia peanuts are said to contain less Aflatoxins.
• Buy good quality peanuts from reputed brands only.
• Better to feed them peanuts suitable for humans rather than animal feed.

It is always advised to keep yourself updated about new researches on pet diet in order to keep you pet bird happy. Generally the USDA and FDA inspect the presence of toxins in food items and reject them if found dangerous. You may follow those tips above for better understanding.

Keeping Guinea Pigs As Pets

Guinea pigs make excellent pets. There are certain things that you should know before getting them home. You can keep them outdoors but it is better to have them indoors to protect them from extreme climates. Since these are very social creatures, you can bring them in pairs. They understand love, so pat them occasionally and handle with care.

They live long, so you can get ready for a long-term commitment. They should be allotted a lot of free space when at home. It is good for their growth and development. Also make sure that they are kept in clean surroundings. While keeping them, you must supervise their diet discreetly as they need to be given Vitamin C in their diet. Feed them fresh grass, carrots, apples, capsicum, cucumber, broccoli etc. But don’t give repetitive meals, as they may get bored just like humans! It is great pleasure watching guinea pigs play and kids simply love them.

If you want to bring home rabbits as your pet you need to know few things and follow some tips to raise them unhindered. Read on to know about raising rabbits:

• It is better to leave the wild ones free as they might have their families close by.
• Rabbits require enough space to run around and play. So do not shut them off in a small cage or behind close doors.
• If you cannot afford to get an entire room for the rabbits, make a large cage with littering area, lots of fresh water, food trays and a place to sleep. Also keep toys that it can nibble and play with.
• You can make your home safe for your pet by covering exposed wires, placing valuable items on a high platform and keeping poisonous plants (for rabbits) at bay.

Your puppy needs to be trained to avoid problems at a later stage. There are various effective techniques to train for puppy behavior training that you may adopt:
