Just like human beings, aging dogs too demand extra and special treatment. An aging dog is more susceptible to diseases and accidents and as the body is becomes fragile hence take good care of it to keep it healthy and possibly prolong its life.

Although dogs like to exercise, an aging dog may not be fit for certain types of exercises such as strenuous activities. Just because the dog is aging does not mean you stop exercising it. Feed your aging dog with the right foods as directed by your vet but generally a balanced diet of proteins, fats, carbohydrates and vitamins in the right proportion. There are dog foods specifically prepared for aging dogs.

Since an aging dog may catch diseases easily, check with the vet regularly to make sure it is healthy and is not in danger of contacting one. Deworm it for internal parasites and be ready to provide first aid in case of accidents.
