Low Protein Dog Food
Filed Under Dogs, Pet Care, Pet Feed, Pet Health
Low protein food for dogs is often recommended by veterinarians and this is often in the event that the dog suffers from serious health problems. It is manufactured in dry and canned varieties and when you have to buy it there are certain considerations which are supposed to be taken seriously. In the first instance, it has to be low in phosphorus since it is easily retained in the body and could pose an imbalance between calcium and potassium.
Having a low protein diet does not mean the complete absence of the nutrient and as such, you have to confirm that the food contains substantial amounts of protein. In addition to this, you should also ensure that the food does not contain any preservatives as this could adversely affect the health of your dog. Lastly, ensure that the food is rich in vitamin D3 and that it contains calcium to keep the bone structure in shape as low proteins only mean that your dog will be absorbing less calcium.
